Cookie Policy

The cookies, local storage and offline caching LaunchPad uses, including optional Google Analytics cookies, why each one is used, and how you can accept, reject, control or clear them.

Last updated

This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the LaunchPad website at launchpad.mlabs.ng. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

The short version: the storage the site needs to work is strictly functional. The only other cookies we use are Google Analytics cookies, and they are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner. We do not use advertising cookies.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage (a place in your browser where a site can save information) and the Cache Storage used by service workers (which lets a site save copies of its pages and files on your device so it can load them without a network connection).

Cookies and similar technologies can be "strictly necessary" (needed for a feature you have asked for) or used for other purposes such as analytics or advertising. We use strictly necessary storage, and analytics cookies only with your consent. We do not use advertising cookies.

2. What we use for public visitors

2.1 Local storage: your quote

NameTypePurposeDuration
launchpad:quoteLocal storageSaves the services and packages you add to your quote, so it is still there when you return or refresh the pageUntil you clear your quote or your browser storage

Your quote stays on your device. It is not sent to us unless you choose to send it using Send on WhatsApp or Email quote in the quote drawer.

2.2 Service worker and Cache Storage: offline use

The LaunchPad website is a Progressive Web App (PWA). When you visit, a service worker is installed in your browser. It stores static assets (such as styles, scripts, images and icons) and pages in your browser's Cache Storage so that:

  • pages load faster on repeat visits and on slow connections;
  • parts of the site remain available when you are offline;
  • you can install the site to your home screen.

This cache contains website content, not information about you, and it is not used to track you. It is updated automatically when we publish changes.

NameTypePurposeDuration
launchpad:consentLocal storageRemembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don't ask on every visitUntil you change your choice or clear your browser storage

This is strictly necessary to respect your choice. It contains only your choice and the date you made it.

If you click Accept analytics in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site: for example, which pages are visited, how long visits last, which device types and approximate locations (city or country level) visitors come from, and which sites referred them. We use this only in aggregate to improve the website and our services.

_ga_<ID>Google AnalyticsKeeps track of the current session2 years

Please note:

  • Nothing is loaded until you accept. If you reject, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded and these cookies are not set.
  • We have told Google that we do not use this data for advertising: ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are always switched off.
  • Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
  • Analytics is not loaded on our staff-only admin area or sign-in pages.
  • Google processes this data under its own privacy policy and may process it outside Nigeria (see section 6 of our Privacy Policy).

2.5 Third-party requests

  • Google Fonts. Your browser requests our fonts from Google's servers. Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. We do not ask Google to set cookies for this purpose.
  • Cloudinary. Images on the site, including testimonial photos, are delivered from Cloudinary's servers, which receive standard request information.
  • WhatsApp. If you choose Send on WhatsApp, you leave our website for WhatsApp, operated by Meta, which applies its own cookie and privacy policies.

3. What we use for staff

Our staff-only admin area at /admin uses Clerk to handle sign-in. Clerk sets its own session and security cookies for signed-in staff so they remain authenticated. These cookies are strictly necessary for the admin area and are not set for public visitors browsing the website.

4. What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No advertising or social media tracking pixels.
  • No social media tracking widgets.

If this changes, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.

When you first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Accept analytics and Reject are equally easy to choose, and the website works the same either way.

Strictly necessary storage (your quote, your consent record, offline access and staff sign-in) does not need consent, because the site cannot provide those features without it.

You can change your mind at any time by clicking Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If you withdraw consent, we stop analytics immediately and remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect analytics collected before you withdrew it.

6. How to control or clear storage

You can view and remove all of the above at any time:

  • Change your analytics choice: click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
  • Clear your quote: remove items in the quote drawer, or clear site data for launchpad.mlabs.ng in your browser.
  • Remove the offline cache and service worker: in most browsers, open site settings (the icon next to the address bar) and choose to clear site data. In Chrome and Edge you can also use Developer Tools → Application → Storage → Clear site data.
  • Block storage altogether: your browser settings let you block cookies and site data. The website will still work, but your quote and cookie choice will not be saved between visits and offline access will not be available.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics on all websites: Google offers a browser add-on for this.

Guidance for your specific browser is available in its help pages.

7. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if the technologies we use change. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
