Refund & Cancellation Policy

How LaunchPad handles cancellations, package deposits, milestone payments, non-refundable government fees and refund requests, with clear timelines.

Last updated

This policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for LaunchPad services. We want it to be fair to you and clear about the costs we cannot recover once work is under way, especially government and third-party fees that are paid on your behalf. It forms part of our Terms of Use.

1. How our pricing works

It helps to understand what a LaunchPad fee covers before looking at refunds:

  • What a fee includes. Each price is a one-off fee in Naira that includes our professional work and any government or registry charges the service requires, such as CAC filing fees and domain registrations.
  • What it does not include. Costs a provider bills you directly, such as software licences, subscriptions or transaction fees, are not part of our fee. We list them on the service page and in your quote, and they are refunded, if at all, under that provider's own terms.
  • Individual services are paid in full up front.
  • Packages are paid across milestones: a deposit to start, and the balance on delivery.
  • Quotes are valid for 30 days.

Because government and registry charges are included in your price, part of what you pay is passed on to authorities and platforms once we file or purchase on your behalf. Those amounts usually cannot be recovered, which is why they are treated differently below.

2. Cancelling a service

You can cancel at any time by writing to us (see section 7). What you get back depends on how far the work has progressed.

Stage when you cancelWhat is refunded
Before work starts (paid, but no work begun and nothing filed or purchased)Full refund, less any payment processing charges we incurred
After work starts, before any government or third-party fee is paidRefund of the fee, less the value of work completed and payment processing charges
After a government or third-party fee has been paid or filedRefund of the remaining fee, less the value of work completed, non-recoverable third-party costs and payment processing charges
After final deliveryNo refund, except as set out in section 5

The value of work completed is assessed fairly against the stages of the service (for example, consultation, drafting, design concepts, preparation of filings). We will explain how we have calculated it.

3. Non-refundable government and third-party fees

Once paid to the relevant authority or provider, the following are non-refundable, because we cannot recover them:

  • CAC filing and registration fees, once the application has been submitted;
  • CAC name reservation fees, once the search has been submitted;
  • newspaper publication costs for incorporated trustees, once placed;
  • NRS, SCUML or other regulatory fees, once paid;
  • domain name registrations, once registered;
  • software licences, subscriptions, themes, fonts or stock assets, once purchased for your project;
  • payment gateway or verification charges levied by the provider.

If a provider does issue us a refund or credit, we will pass it on to you.

4. Packages, deposits and milestones

  • The deposit secures your place in our schedule and funds the first stages of work, including any early filings or purchases. If you cancel before any work begins, it is refunded in full less processing charges.
  • If you cancel after work has started, the deposit is applied to work completed and non-recoverable costs, and any unused balance of the deposit is refunded.
  • The balance is due on delivery. If you cancel before delivery, you will not be asked to pay the balance, but amounts already paid are handled as in section 2.
  • If a package contains several services, we assess each service separately. Services already delivered in full are not refundable.
  • If you stop responding for more than 60 days without explanation, we may treat the engagement as cancelled by you after giving written notice, and handle payments as in section 2.

5. Revisions, quality and our own failure

5.1 Revisions are the first remedy

Each service includes the revision rounds stated in its description (for example, two revision rounds on writing services where stated). Requesting revisions within those rounds is part of the service and is not grounds for a refund. Changes outside the agreed scope, or beyond the included rounds, may be quoted separately.

5.2 When we get it wrong

If we fail to deliver what was agreed, or make an error in a filing that is our fault, we will first correct it at no cost to you, including paying any government fees to refile. If we cannot correct it within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a refund of the fee for the service concerned, less non-recoverable third-party costs that were not affected by our error.

5.3 Outcomes we cannot guarantee

A refund is not available because a job application, admission, scholarship, verification or ranking did not succeed, or because a regulator took longer than expected. These outcomes depend on third parties. See our Service Disclaimer.

6. Specific situations

6.1 Rejected name reservations

If CAC does not approve a proposed business or company name, we will retry with alternative names you approve, at no extra cost, as part of the service. This is not grounds for a refund. If you decide not to proceed after a rejection, the name reservation fees already paid are non-refundable, and the rest is handled as in section 2.

6.2 Rejected or queried filings

If a regulator queries or rejects a filing, we will respond to the query or resubmit. Where the rejection results from inaccurate or incomplete information you provided, additional government fees or significant extra work may be charged.

6.3 Information you cannot provide

If you are unable to provide documents required by law (for example, valid identification for all directors), we cannot complete the filing. Payments are then handled as in section 2.

6.4 If we cancel

If we decide we cannot take on or continue your work for reasons that are not your fault, we will refund all fees for work not yet delivered, including any unspent government fees. If we stop work because of a breach of our Terms of Use (for example, forged documents), section 2 applies.

7. How to request a cancellation or refund

Email launchpad@mlabs.ng with:

  • your name and the phone number or email used for the engagement;
  • your quote or invoice reference (for example, LP-0149);
  • whether you are cancelling, requesting a refund, or both, and the reason.

You can also message us on WhatsApp at +234 904 603 1716, but please follow up by email so there is a written record.

8. Processing times

  • We will acknowledge your request within 2 working days.
  • We will confirm our decision and the amount, with a breakdown of any deductions, within 5 working days.
  • Approved refunds are paid within 10 working days of approval, to the original payment method. If that is not possible, we will agree an alternative with you, to an account in the payer's name.

Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to show the refund.

9. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy affects rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.
